From March 19th to 23rd, many researchers gathered together during The Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition (OFC) hold in Anaheim, California, USA. VI Systems post deadline paper presents VCSEL transmission at 107.5 Gbit/s | OFC 2016

We successfully presented our postdeadline paper at the OFC 2016 - we show for the first time 100G operation for both multi mode and single mode VCSELs over 10 and 100 m of OM4 fiber.

DTU Fotonik PhD student Corning Best Paper Award runner-up at OFC 2016

The PhD student Nicklas Eiselt, Department of Photonics Engineering, supervised by J.J. Vegas Olmos and Idelfonso Tafur Monroy participated in the Best Student Paper Award by CORNING at the OFC 2016. The award finally went with honors to Zahoora Sanjabieznaveh.

Nicklas is a PhD student in the Marie Curie ABACUS project, which involves a long time secondment at ADVA Optical Networking, Meiningen, Germany. The paper he competed with was entitled "First Real-Time 400G PAM-4 Demonstration for Inter-Data Center Transmission over 100 km of SSMF at 1550 nm". The same paper generated a public release by Business Wire (

WorkInnova 2015, Bogotá, Colombia

The fourth edition of WorkInnova has been successfully hold in Bogotá, Colombia the 24th and 25th of November 2015. The main goals were:

  • Present the latest developments in photonics and nanotechnology applications: e-health, energy and smart grid, environmental and bio-sensing, automation of industrial processes and communications;
  • Identify cooperative research possibilities, innovation activities, and business opportunities that will be enabled by such technological breakthroughs in South America and Denmark.
